This paper presents a case study of what software is used in the company and how it is used to support its critical operations. The paper also summarizes our experience in using, managing and planning with open source in mind. A comparative list of why open source was chosen over proprietary solutions is provided together with the benefits the company is seeing from using open source. Finally, suggestions to improve the open source penetration in private businesses and specifically SME’s are provided. |
